Meet the Maker: THE HKMA K S LO COLLEGE (KSLO STEAM CLUB)

The HKMA K S LO COLLEGE (KSLO STEAM CLUB) has launched a pioneering project, AI Archery Pose, that promises to redefine how archery training is conducted. By integrating cutting-edge AI technology, this initiative aims to make training more scientific, systematic, and accessible for athletes of all levels.

At its core, AI Archery Pose leverages MediaPipe, an open-source framework developed by Google, to analyze and enhance archery stances. The system identifies key landmarks of the human body, detecting and visualizing the angles between the archer’s body and arms. This real-time feedback provides athletes with a clear understanding of their form, helping them refine their technique with precision.

One of the standout features of AI Archery Pose is its camera delay function. After releasing an arrow, the archer can review their form through the program, making it easy to analyze their posture and adjust as needed. The process is user-friendly, requiring only a simple press of the C button to capture a screenshot. This feature allows the shooter to review their body angles after the shot, helping them identify and perfect the best pose.

By taking multiple screenshots, archers can compare and contrast their stances, gaining deeper insights into what contributes to their best performance. This approach transforms traditional training methods, making them more data-driven and objective, rather than relying on abstract descriptions and intuition.

With AI Archery Pose, the HKMA KSLO College STEAM Club has created a tool that not only reduces coaching time but also empowers athletes to take control of their own development. This project exemplifies the potential of AI in sports, offering a glimpse into the future of training where technology and athleticism converge to create better, more consistent results.
